HID (high intensity discharge) | ||

HID stands for high intensity discharge lighting. They generate light by creating an arc within a xenon filled glass chamber. Once the gas is ignited, it produces an extremely bright light which is up to 3 times brighter than a standard halogen bulb. They also produce up to a 30% wider beamspread, thus resulting in much better visibility for safer night time driving. HID xenon bulbs last up to 10 times longer than standard halogen bulbs, as they do not utilize a wire filament to produce the light. The average lifespan of a xenon bulb is equal to about 8 years of continuous night driving. You will never have to change a bulb again. HID’s draw 40% less power from the vehicles electrical system as they operate at 35 watt compared to a halogen bulb that operates at 55-100watt. HID’s operate at a lower temperature than a standard bulb making them a safe choice.
